We took mason jars
and poked small holes in their lids;
then went out into
those long hot summer nights as
childhood flickered around us.

We couldn’t hold youth
any more than we could keep
caught fireflies alive,
and our once bright lights are now
dimming in the jar of life.

    Great metaphor Andrea and it sure brings back memories. We did that every summer. Got to do it just after dark when they're still low. We, with some friends caught fireflies a few years ago to relive old memories. "Hey, let's see who can catch the most". Then someone twisted their ankle and we decided it wasn't a good idea. I caught 3 though! BTW, I know youth is still in your heart and turned to art here. Thanks, Craig
