Good luck meal

For our New Years ‘good luck meal’ we’re have’n Pork on a –
‘SPIT' - son
No I didn’t say – ‘SPIT’- son
(I wipe my eye)
Yes I did say ‘SPIT‘- but not ‘too – SPIT’
It is okay son- don’t cry-we can all get things wrong-
From time to time
Now where was I -ah yes,
The reason for the –‘SPIT’…
Testing-testing
Are you okay now-son - Good
It is considered good luck-to eat Pork-
With black-eyed peas and sour kraut on New Years day
And the reason for the –‘SPIT’- they say
It cooks the pork - to perfection,
Myself -I prefer lamb

Too cute my friend. It really made me smile. We have cabage and rutabagas with ham hocks served with corn bread. Black eyed peas a good with it too though. God Bless, JB

This poem is so cleverly done and I've tremondously enjoyed this. I've also learned something new about culture. The pork and the black-eyes peas along with sour kraut for good luck - I will get some tomorrow as I need the luck my way! Interesting and brilliant read! Thank you for sharing! Thank you as well for the kind comment on mine!

Creative look on the tradition. I like the almost slapshtick delivery, very nice twist at the end too :)
