Ancestry

It was my ancestors who gave me
My spirit's glowing flame;
The image of grace, and an angels face
And the message of my name.

But it was all the men I loved
And not my ancient sires
Who put in my heart a flickering flame
And the dazzling rainbow fires.

I always wanted more from them
Than they were willing to give;
But now we go our separate ways
Each with different lives to live.

As the wreckage now is burning
That's found in the crimson blaze;
There shines in the sky’s blue splendor
Sweeter and brighter days.

    Such a beautiful write that touches the history of you-- I really like what you say here, of how those people also help us become who we are... they may have passed our lives but they played such a role in it-- sorry I haven't been able to pass by your writes lately Elizabeth... A fine piece my friend and for sure we learn something from each person that crosses our path. If we are smart, we learn from each experience and that helps us to grow and become a better person.\ Good Job and remember, We must learn to love ourselves before we can truly love or be loved by anyone else. God Bless, JB

    This is very interesting the contrast of what you got from genetics and from the men you loved. Yes, Elizabeth the hope of brighter days ahead. I think many are wishing it.

    Able to access internet tonight for a change and do some souping. I am again awestruck by your writing, L. The desert illustrates what you speak of, that life bursts forth again from what may appear to be barren. Thank you for sharing your beautiful spirit with us.

    And then she flew out of the blue. To where no one could see. The stars explode into the night. Where love could finally be.
