Now son, I think you’re sneaky,
not just lying for my good.
Your cover-up was cheeky,
I’m not blind or wear a hood.

A nursing home’s not for me
nor assisted-living room,
I’m keeping my own money
and that place is not my doom.

I’m old but like strip poker,
karaoke makes me high,
known as practical joker,
kind of partial to the rye.

I raised a suited dandy
that’s so rigid in his ways.
Yeah, schooling came in handy
cause you left for longer stays.

So son, you have your answer,
I’m not going anywhere.
I’ve hired a belly dancer
for my party if you dare.

It might be my last birthday,
if you come, you must have fun.
Your sister’s having her way
bringing beer and loaded gun.

The gun is for my present,
it’s protection I don’t need.
So come and let’s be pleasant
and we see where it will lead.

I wrote this before my Mom decended in Alzheimer's. She is in a memory care unit now. She kept running away and fighting everyone, so the only option I had left was behind doors she can't get out. Most days, she doesn't know us. Glad you enjoyed. Take care. Janet

Thank you. I was just having some fun when I wrote this. My mom always said she didn't want to go to a nursing home and my brother really wanted her to go... Take care. Janet
