a harbor

I had heard of a place
With ships that stayed
At harbor
And I told her this
But she laughed
And left anyway.
But I stayed there
Standing, watching her fade
Like the sunset for
The backdropp of the harbor
In the story I had made up
To see if she would believe
Because maybe then
I would too.
Turning, I wondered
If she would find a
New harbor
With deeper water
Where she would feel
More at home
I doubted it
But wished her luck
Picking up a stone I tossed it
Into the air at the water
Watching its downward plunge
Wishing it luck
In its journey
To wherever the depths lead
