resplendent iridescence

sit alone

one night and pick out a star;

stare at it until the sky is

forgotten into the infinite blackness

and project yourself into its resplendent iridescence.

extend the ever-reaching arms of your

consciousness into the supreme unknown

and touch the celestial orb with your soul.

cover your mind in its stardust until you

sneeze transcendence.

travel through space-time and embrace

the creator of worlds,

the progenitor of life -

the God without faith.

in every glint of luminous light,

you travel millions of years into the past -

into an eternity unknown.

acknowledge this sacred star

and then pick another.

the cosmos is yours for the taking;

it is the harmony between your soul-mind

and the star that allows it to shimmer.

without you, the universe is empty,

with you, everything is infinite.

wink back at the stars,

because the joke is on them.
