How to Dissociate

It’s almost as though time itself has slowed down,
The sun has stopped producing light and the rays travelling to earth crystallized, turned to honey, in which I am suspended and about to drown.
I’m clothed in a veil, woven of my own fears,
that traps my thoughts around me like incorporeal gnats and effectively blocks the intrusion of others, though its layers be sheer.
Trapped, perfectly insulated, climate controlled,
the laws of thermodynamics and human contact subverted, I am here on my own, neither touching nor touched, neither hot nor cold.
