I Wish I Was There
I wish I was there,
Instead of here,
I wish I could smell the fresh air,
I wish I could sit in a rickshaw again,
Dance in the rain.
My body is here,
But my mind is elsewhere;
A million miles away,
Everyday,
I miss that city,
The city of lights,
The city of the most wonderful sights,
The city where I yearn to return.
Sometimes I close my eyes,
And return there
Just for a minute,
But I know it is just a fantasy,
Not reality,
Cause I can’t leave my home,
My birthplace,
And settle somewhere I’ve known twice.
But still,
I wish I was there,
Instead of here…
