Soldiers Life Thread

Young men shipped out to the far east
Their civil virgin is soon to be lost
                                      Replaced by a fighting beast

In the midst of the battle
The sickening stench of human bloodshed
Fills the air of a once distant paradise
                                      Tortured minds,lost sainty
                                              Terrifying fears
                                      Tuned into surviving modus
                                  Endless cascades of hells` flames
                                  Licks the young soldiers`life thread
Is there an end to all the madness?
Can he ever be a loving man again?

Followed by the shadows of dead comrades
He returns to his family and loved ones
Like any man,he seeks back to his battlefield again
The war devil has got his clammy hand around his throat
Until his dying day,the war will continue
Will he ever reach nirvana again?
He may never experience that moment again,
when inner peace sett the standard of comfort

And the saddest part....someone just made a pail of money out of that war

Amazing how much the US will do for oil rich countries and turn their head on Sierra Leone and other nations suffering human atrocities. My brother is a disabled Nam vet. We protected oil rights and French rubber trees and the cost in human life was tremendous.

This is fantastic from beginning to end. Thanks for illuminating this poem for me to read. I can't even imagine how the soldiers' felt i these dark days but you painted a clear picture to allow me a slight idea. Excellent and sad point there at the end as well. Keep up the great work. Always, Laura

CAn't seem to find a poem to comment to that I have not already seen. I came way down here though and saw your reply to my other comment I made here. Yes,it's really a disgrace. I can imagine you have seen some horrible things, Arild. Thanks for your comments on my poetry. I only wish you had a lot of poems for me to comment to you back on!!

A good poem to clearly stand up against war, Arild. i'm so thankful my son got out of the Marines right before things got bad over there. WE all need to remember these soldiers more than we do. Good for you to speak for them.

Thanks Andrea! I`ve witnessed post-traumatic stress at close range, and it isnt a pretty sight..the lack of serious follow up that lots of them meet when they`re finally out of that hell..that`s a shame and a disgrace.

Such a thoughtful rhyme on war. Wouldn't you wonder how people can do it when they don't have anything against the person they are killing. War is so strange!
