About This Poem

Papa Blue

Licked ‘bacca papers
one hand rolled
lit whenever
lip wrapped harp quiverin soulful
stopped
so’s the other could strike fire

Told golly tales
words snail crawlin over tongue leather
endin’ whenever
‘nuff Lawd Awmighties choke chortled
settlin’
dust motes over Sunday naps

Danced cob webs
jelly roll high strap britches fulla
jigglin’ whenever
thunder legs rumbled earth tender
ever
starin’ life down through molasses glasses

Had to read this sticky-wet view several times, with places, words not quite understood, but the last line grabbed pretty good. Thanks for reading my stuff. daver
