Autumn
Leaves blushing in the brilliant sun,
Grass dusty with the early frost,
Birds catching early morning flights--
Long days of summer now are lost.
Crops gleaned now from the farmer’s fields,
Ground shivering in its naked frame,
Fog brooding in the west horizon--
All nature just is not the same.
Once brilliant with the blazing sun,
Now summer’s days are quickly gone;
School bells now call the children in--
All this comes now as autumn dawns.
Another of my "secular poems."
