In Between

Today is nearly over,
And tomorrow's not quite here;
There's a glow of a silver lining
As twilight drifts so near.

This time is in between
The precious here and now;
A whisper of a moment
That captures then and how.

Today is fraught with trouble
Tomorrow is but a dream;
I need to know my heart
To find what's in between.

I opened up my eyes
To see all that might be;
And I awakened to the wonder
That sets a spirit free.

Today is almost over
Then tomorrow will be today;
Time will slowly stretch her arms
And steal the hours away.

At last the hour is turning
Today has gone somewhere;
Now that it is over
Tomorrow is everywhere.

    '...tomorrow is everywhere' nice! Even though we are fraught with trouble we must have the courage to see all that we might be. This is a beautifully crafted piece with a gentle cadence and good rhyming... :)

    FYI tommorrow never arrives and today is always here. yesterday a memory that is'nt always clear. yesterday we were surely alive and today we might be dying. but tommorow we might be dead and in a casket lying. but if tommarrow should ever arrive and we should see it comming. then know very sure that it was after your going. john

    tomorrow a mystery, yesterday is history, today a gift that is why it is called the present. By: author unknown inspiration?

    You definitely gave a wonderful spin to "in between" here-- usually I associate it with something so uncertain, so undefined, but you've put it in a spotlight and how beautifully so..."tomorrow is everywhere"-- I honestly never thought of it that way-- what a very insightful and flowing write, Elizabeth :)

    You describe past and future beautifully. As tomorrow is -whether you want it or not- to be embraced. I enjoyed your poems so much, Elizabeth. Some of them had me peek in to google translate, bu yeah.. I enjoyed it a lot, and it gave me new word bank. Dinda ;)

    You have a lovely following of poets you've inspired. It seems, your prose and poetry, they just never get tired. But who can blame them, just take a look. I'm telling you, you've got to write a book.

    Elizabeth, as usual, here you go doing that transcendental Emily Dickinson, Mariannas Trench deep thinking again with your own special touch of mystifying imagination. And again, your earlier compliments are WAY over the top as I've come to expect from you. "Thanks" is never enough and sincerely, there's Greatness in this poem I'm keeping as a Fav. All Smiles becuz of U.

    Your poem says it so well. Our entire lives get lived in between so many things. It's a wonder we aren't squished.

    This is what I call "capturing the moment". I pray you see many more beautiful tomorrows to come, dear Liz.
