Vagabond

Like a ravished maiden
pale, forlorn and ashen
the birch lay in the still pond.
Dreams of Ophelia evoke nostalgia,
as golden tresses move on,
splay upon the water
feast upon our daughter
a beautiful vagabond.

Terrific imagery Debbie. Nothing more beautiful than a birch in full fall yellow. I have a cabin in Alaska and I really enjoy stories about the 1st Nation peoples and their dietys Hence "Crow." A moldboard is the type of plow that rolls the sod over upside down.

Oh, Debbie, did this stir up out of nowhere, come in a dream, were you out for a walk and then came upon this scene and the words struck each other like dominos falling? This, wordsmith, is MINT. Is this for the leaves contest? Your lines linger... LUSCIOUS WRITE. Again, a fine poet proves that its not the number of lines, its the power of words... Hugs, Cyndi
