Cat and Mouse

So, he thinks the game is done,
But it's been too much fun
Bouncing him back and forth between my paws
And taunting him with toothy jaws.

He used pretty words to get away
But he knows he cannot stay
For I have the cheese that is his fix
And even addicts run out of tricks.

Now my little mouse has taken a mate
And looks to love to resolve his fate.

But when he thinks he's free and clear,
That's when I shall reappear.

This is a game he cannot win.
Felines know the minds of men.

One day my little mouse must resign
To live his life by a cat's design.

Thank you Vicky. You always have to stay one step ahead of those pesky mice.

Whoa! Well played(aah, I mean well written).I love how the cat let's the mouse get in its comfort zone - that's when the cat will pounce again-genius. Advice to mouse: give up now. Very well done Beverly!

Clay, thank you for your wonderful comments. And yes, it is about prey and predator, a woman and her mate.

Beverly, you seem to have a reflective and dare I say this is a fine rhyme about the everyday interaction between prey and predator? I have not read other peeps comments yet, but others besides myself surely must see or guess that what you really are speaking about here is the taunting and vexing of a woman over her man-friend, her mate. Well, either way, a delightful read.
