Time to Go

I know the bitter sorrow and pain
For one sided love is a deathly woe;
It is kind compared to that time I know
When love's passion is on the wane.

When I feel the ache and know the grace
That gave glory to my night and day;
Is now dying with sorrows of grey
Becoming dull and so commonplace.
When my whispers of love fall on deaf ears,
And my hand reaches yours without thrill;
When we cannot compel by force or will
The sweet hunger that had no tears;
When the dream has gone and love is asleep
When you no longer want to be near;
And all I cherish has gone from our year
Then it is the sad time to weep.

But there are no tears left to heal the woe
For I will see you with sad dry eyes;
If we try to hold it the faster love flies
And I will know it is time to go.

    Fabulous abba rhyming! Recognizing the obvious can be heart-breaking... but when you realize that the end is upon you, it is time to sever all ties. Well done, Elizabeth!

    A heartfelt and heart-wrenching write. Most people have been burned by love at some time and they will identify with this. Hope love is treating you better right now. xoxo Robert.

    After experiments of elements, result is found. A magnet attracts iron and iron there to. If magnet touches a piece of wood, both are innocent aspiring attraction. I see your last line, what time says. You are always great, my friend Wesley. bl

    Sometimes the heart does'nt want to let go. It's breaking inside and does'nt even know. A year can go by in the blink of an eye. And the heart doesn't know if it doesn't let go. Another years gone and it's just going to die. Soups on.

    Good poem of such heartbreak. Btw about my poem "Poetic Justice," I found out because I experienced it firsthand.

    Never experienced dying love but I am sure that if one tried to keep a relationship going and it was dead that it would go even faster than if the two just parted friends..Enjoyed reading your penned thoughts..Thanks for stopping by, reading, and commenting on my work..Sara

    A good write Elizabeth, on the peculiar facets faced by people involved in love and the reality of personality, expectation disapointment, fallability encountered, all the best as you go along..

    The passion of sorrow is well expressed here dear poet, and, the loathe of loneliness radiate in this write as well, without your write being blunt and saying so. Well constructed write Elizabeth ! Have a beautiful week my friend, (should I be saying; 'Philly' friend?) *smiles* Much love, james

    Lizzie, there is beauty in pain and you have shown it to us. The fact that beauty can be found in pain is itself hopeful. I love your poem. Tony
