Autumnal Hymn

Startled by a sudden autumn chill,
September bids farewell to all her green;
Soon bright October’s blush will slowly fill
The countless bodies of the dying leaves

And yet thereafter, even these will fade,
As all her brilliant colors turn to brown,
Consumed by whitest flakes that wreath the graves
Of passing seasons buried in the ground.
