Lives to Live

I need more lives for me to live
In this universe of beauty;
I plan more days to find new ways
Of doing freedom's duty.
I need not more joy than this
For I am life's dear lover;
And when I wage to turn the page
I'd never want another.

The glorious pledge of sunny Spring
With sweet June coming after;
Bring autumn sighs and summers cries
Lost in winter's laughter.
With virgin moons and scorching noon’s
And stars of a thousand nights;
I'd need no heaven if love be given
With all its sweet delights.

There are many splendors for the eye
And such music for the ear;
The mind would reel with all to feel
And see to touch and hear.
There's many ways to spend the days
And more to do what's kind;
For bread now cast on waters past
Returns again I find.

There are such gifted souls to know
And many more to learn;
While a promise rests in earth's warm breast
And unknown stars still burn.
In six days God made all the earth
The bible is known to say;
Six lives I need to plant a seed
Of love with one for each dear day.

But sad if love should fly away
Or hide his face from me;
Six lives aren’t much if I had such
But one’s all that need be.
With unhappy May and sorry June
Sad dawns and weary night;
A sorry world through space was hurled
When love had lost her light.

    How do you do it? You constantly delight us with your special verses... warm us with your beautiful reflections, cool us with occasional signs of sadness, and guide us into a greater appreciation of the world around us. Whatever your secret is, nurture and cherish it, and continue to share it with us all. Thank you, and bless you. Love, Keith

    After reading this poem, it is yet again reinforced how you write with an eloquence that is beyond my own brooding, plodding, ear-splitting(you get the point lol)lines. Wonderful poetry yet again.

    I just had to come back and take another peek at this one because, as usual, its a "soul-grabber" and I needed another shot of your poetic juice. I also wanted to say I can never catch up to you in terms of number of poems read and commented on and a special thanks again for your thoughts on "Limbo" and "The Battle of Milvian Bridge." I mixed a real piece of history with an imaginary dream and that was the result. Glad you enjoyed and again, apologies for being "MIA" these past few days.

    I don't know what else to say that others haven't said already except it's like a breath of fresh air to be reading your lovliness again. BEAUTIFUL writing my dear. And deepest apologies for not responding sooner to your kind comments on "Lonliness" but life's been complicated these past few days and reading this poem is like listening to Shakespear being sung to Mozart. You're a God-send.

    Truly strong message here. Life is how we define it...and ourselves. Excellent job!

    Life here can be so beautiful, with love and with a positive attitude towards it. The occassional downs come only to make us value the beauty of life and of whatever we have been gifted with. It must have been something for you to adopt this style of rhyme and finish with perfection; the 3rd and 7th line of each stanza i am referring to. Great job, dear Liz

    My eyes are clouded from loves light. The years have removed my hearts fight. The best I do is stay alive. Awaiting your heart to revive. Winters chill has come too early. And left me to become so surly. I pray for peace to fill my soul. And with some love to become whole. How's this for chanting,ranting the same ole drone. It's the culmination of the skills I hone. A style that's weary to the bone. It just reiterates all I've known.
