Shadow Life

Blood, sweat, tears, sorrows and my soul spray from
my heart onto the canvas of my life. Pulling me down,
baptizing me in quicksand, suffocating, demoralizing,
draining my energy, disconnecting me from any hopes of
happiness. Years are fleeting, wounds still bleading from
the betrayers, the losses, the injuries, the illness, pain
that I have know.

Lonliness my constant companion sucking the life out of me.
I am too tired to fight anymore, I yield letting the vortex pin
me to the bottom where this journey will come to an end.
My words have no meaning, my mind is empty, I haven't made
a difference, no works, no victories. I am nothing, dust in the
wind, an echo, a song never heard, the canvas is black, no
color, no symmetry, nothing for the eye to see. I am nebulous,
a dream that never was, a truth never spoken, a question
never posed.

A dark and despairing poem, but life can take us to low places sometimes. I am feeling quite low myself right now...a dear family friend died yesterday, aged just 36. He leaves a wife and 18-month old son behind. So desperately sad. But we must go on. A touching poem, Jack. I wish you well.

Hello Jack Well written expression of loneliness. It is normal to have this kind of feeling once in a while. I hope you get out of that rotten feeling in a hurry! I know you've heard this before: Life is what we make it, agree? Dalila

Thank you lovely Lady Dalila for your kind comments, much appreciated....with love...old Jack...yes I have heard that expression, however there are things that make your life what it is, out of your control. I have many of those out of control things in my life. However, in spite of it I will gravitate back to feeling better and then the other way, no worries, long stories regarding this.

Your emotional intensity captivates the mind on this dark journey. Almost sounds like a trip into the dark recesses of a disturbed mind.

Thank you lovely Lady Elizabeth for your comments...it is a trip into my mind, I have suffered a great deal of loss and pain in this life, long story. My wife soul mate died 26years ago at the age of 33, I still feel the pain of that loss. I was abused as a child by my depressed mother, beaten, not fed, told how worthless I was, never shown affection. that is part of the story.

Thank you lovely Lady Linda Marie for your kind comments, much appreciated....with love.....old Jack....yes God is always there he is veilded from eyes of flesh, pure love and truth, power, righteousness...but in this world being alone is anguish, no one to commune with, no sharing, no touches of love, the beat of one lonely heart none other in harmony.

"Old Jack," there are times many of us feel this way. It's a very sad write that touches my heart, but I hope you are in better spirits now. You have made a difference, my friend. And as I near the end of my own journey, I am now feeling peaceful. I pray you find this peace as well. Love, "Old Carolyn"

Thank you lovely Lady Carolyn for your kind comments, much appreciated...with love......old Jack...I am a peace with God, I have difficuty finding peace with my life, I have done the best I could but it is not enough and there are people who are quick to point out my flaws like I'm not aware I have them. I know myself and I know my heart I am a loving generous person to often taken advantage of and abused.

I think you just desribed what it must be like to be in purgatory or something. I sure hope you are feeling ok and that this poem is not an indication of your own feelings. The last few lines are super powerful, Jack and really support the title.
