When the Tab Comes Due

Frail humans we are and mistakes are made, but there will be a time to pay for pain inflicted on others. Run swiftly from dark clouds hovering above, baggage like an albatross around our necks -- cast it aside. Commit to offering kind words, compassion to all, bestowing brotherly love. Make amends when possible for harmful acts, even negative thoughts, and promote harmony. When we stand at heaven’s gate, we’ll not be asked about material possessions, but how much love we gave. The prince and the pauper will be judged as equals when the tab comes due.

so many people don't seem to realize this or if they do, don't act accordingly. my husband was talking the other day about this guy that thought he was so important because he knew all these people, a real name dropper, and because he had a fancy title and nice car, and we were both like, who cares? are the people at the pearly gates going to care? you're right that it's all about love, not possessions, not who you know. congrats on your win with this!

Congrats on your fantastic, thought provoking and deeply meaningful write, Carolyn. Your words struck deep chords, not only for me, I'm sure, but for many. Thanks as well for your comments on my poems. Though, I'm very moved that you were touched by MY story, I'm more honoured that you shared YOUR own story. Know that I consider that a TRUE gift. Good work, this, one worth savouring again...

a revelation of a reminder my friend. In this fast and crazy world we need remind ourselves of that each day ... because really... there is nothing else . I prove that to myself daily by continuing to attempt the "else" . Good luck in this contest, Carolyn. God bless you a bunch
