Soaring
To understand in deeper depths,
The way of soul and mind.
Our hearts just fail to understand
The way of love and fear.
Remorse and shame bereft our joy,
And every hope is ruined.
From love our hearts are torn.
And find their way to fear.
We seem at loss to find a way
Of finding love to mend the wounds.
Our souls are longing for the end
To ev’ry single fear.
We grope in ghostly caves;
We stumble on in dread.
Our souls are seeking greater ways
Of hiding all our fear.
Why journey on this road
If life’s a constant pain?
And all our dreams are shattered
By haunting lifelong fears.
Perhaps if greater purpose
Can steer our hearts to light,
We might not always stumble
On dreadful paths of fear.
Perhaps if love unending
Could rescue us from shame,
An end would soon appear,
And drive away the fear.
Perhaps if pride could disappear,
We might not still be here.
Forever struggling on a path–
The frightful path of fear.
What if the way to light
Is giving up your own;
To serve a greater cause
Which soars above the fear.
