Winter's Return
November blew in, dark, dream-mystical;
voids of loneliness ached in us each night.
But love shone from shadow, transcendental,
comforting us with empathy's insight,
pressed close in a dazzling spill of starlight.
Cold winds of loss blew both our worlds apart.
Yet hope plants evergreen seeds in lost hearts;
leaves turn, the season's colours churn and burn,
solace sparks from dark as the year departs
and time waits for love with winter's return.
