Winter's Return

November blew in: dark, dream-mystical;
voids of loneliness ached in us each night.
But love shone from shadow, transcendental,
comforting us with empathy's insight,
pressed close in a dazzling spill of starlight.

Cold winds of loss blew both our worlds apart.
Yet hope plants evergreen seeds in lost hearts;
leaves turn, the season's colours churn and burn.
Solace sparks from dark as the year departs,
and time waits for love with winter's return.

    i caught a little bird in my hand, and without smothering it. it began to stand. it fluttered its wings and flew and flew back. back to my hand it landed feets flat. i see the little bird so often now. it pecks at my window when i'm in the house. she tweets and i sing such a wonderful thing. having no one else , oh what joy she brings.
