Freedom to Inhale
In the dark of the night she lay,
The dawn of life a stranger,
The merry in the laughter,
A fantasy for what may.
The light in the night, a shadow,
The stars, a shy blur to the loud prominence,
The moon, a shy tourist to the land,
The night, a frightening moment of sheer silence.
In the blink of the moment,
A creek in the tiny hole that lay above,
A beam of light, like fire arose,
Consuming every bit of darkness, that once abound.
The shackles fell, her feet to move,
The hand curfs broke, and her arms free,
The doors lay open, freedom her love to capture,
A free night, a starry sky, a breezy wind, freedom to inhale....
