A Patch of Blue

A child abused, yet of an hours grace...
Selina sat knitting her beads in grass
Though blind of sight, she touched the colors light
Under a tree whose leaves fell on her laugh

Selina sat, knitting her beads in grass
Surrounded by the darkness in her eyes
Under a tree, whose leaves fell on her laugh
Her thoughts...a patch of blue, blew above clouds

Surrounded by the darkness in her eyes
Though blind of sight, she touched the colors light
Her thoughts, a patch of blue, blew above clouds
...a child abused; yet of an hours grace

I was looking for my earlier comment on this poem and see it's not here! More Soup technology issues I guess, but I remember this one well. I had writtten to tell you I knew of a blind girl who created art with her hands. The abuse of a blind "Selina" hit me hard. How could anyone be so heartless? The knitting was her escape from a sad reality. I hope this comment goes through. Love, Carolyn

Dear Johnny, the "dream" poem was a rewrite of one I'd written in college. I think my muse has left now. But it's YOU who can create great emotion with your writes. This is just one example. Love, Carolyn

This is so sad and the imagery is very good. I want to run and scoop her up and protect her. Great job. God Bless, JB
