Making Conversation

I struggle with conversation,
what to say I'm never sure
and after introductions
I can't think of any more!

A comment on the weather,
'it's cold for the time of year'
or 'how's work going at the moment?'
is all I can manage I fear.

I'm not one for idle chatter,
don't seem to have the knack,
to engage in conversation
with small talk I do lack.

The thought of talking scares me
nerves turn my mind to mush!
I obviously need more practice
but it's been easier just to hush!

Leave your mouth open and let the words flow babe, i used to be shy for half an age, love your verse, it flows, is sage, says this dummy from down under...

This is very cute. it shows you DO have the wit and cleverness needed for small talk. Just practice with strangers, like when standing in line at a store. I probably bother some people that way. I'll start talking to a complete stranger about something on the cover of a magazine by the checkout stand! enjoyed this poem!
