Biting your tongue until it bleeds
not saying a word.
The taste of blood
is the punishment for your silence.

    Race is not color in essence we have different morals, beliefs, religion birthplace; we are all different. Let these differences make life interesting not filled with hate.

    Agreed. We cannot deny difference, it is there, it exists, it is real. We must strive to embrace it, and do more than just "accept" difference, as people often say, we must instead celebrate it. Thanks for your comments, Doris. I appreciate your perspective and I've enjoyed your poetry :)

    The person that see's black, white, red, brown or yellow in a race, sees taught visions. The person that sees all the same in man and women (as man and women) and not color, creed, origin see through the heart. I won't bite my tongue to speak the truth. Jim

    Yeah, racism is a very difficult thing to deal with. When I wrote this I was thinking about my time spent in South Africa, and how I felt it very difficult to be part of (indirectly) so much racism. It is hard to avoid racial tensions in South Africa, the systemic issues of recent apartheid are so deeply imbedded in society. Although color/race are taught visions, unfortunately they exist as taught visions in every aspect of everyday living. Our world history cannot be ignored, and the way different races/colors/creeds/origins have been treated historically plays a significant role in today's society. I try my best not to bite my tongue, and to speak out against racism, but unfortunately I know I have failed myself from time to time.
