The Escape

Vanished glitter, evaporated beauty and shape
Faces that the fabric of wrinkles of agony drape

Tormented and anguished soul in the body’s unsightly prison
Without the succor of death is there an escape?

WE wait for a spirit body to escape from our earthly prison. Such a beautiful way to share the inevitable state of growing old. These few words go to my faves Mohammed and I thank you for your sweet comments on my poem. :) Luv, Elizabeth

Your poetry is a joy to read,Mohammed. It's full of wisdom, insight and calls the reader to introspect. I believe until we surrender all that we are to the eternal God who made us and really owns us, we will not escape. Sometimes we go through life trying to make it without God, and only by His grace do we come to realize that we are nothing without him but empty, twisted shells. Sorry for the rambling, my friend. Enjoyed this one, also. Have a great weekend! Love, Annalise

Yes, there is Mohammad..there's always a way out. We can escape to the place we truly want to be even if it's just for a moment...just to get us across whatever river that needs crossing! Absolutely love this! One for my "Favs. List". Thanks for visiting! Love, Annalise

Thanks for your comments, Nancy. Yes, there is no escape. But with the help of death there is. That is why you see some people committing suicide and some pleading with their Doctors to put an end to their unbearable life. However, I am not in favor of any of these courses. One must develop courage to bear the reality of anguish and pain until death releases the soul from the body's prison. -Mohammad

Mohammad, Spiritual beings locked in a physical reality only proves that the maker has a sense of humor. As eternal beings, this existence is but a blink of an eye. Enjoy it. It is a gift. Tony

Thanks for your enlightened comments, Tony. The short lived beauty, glamor, vigor, vitality, health and happiness, indeed, reflects the makers sense of humor. All vanishes in the wink of an eye. You are so right. All that remains is agony and pain till death comes to the rescue. Regards. -Mohammad
