I Want My Country Back
I once did not believe in my homeland
There was actually a moment in my life
Where I did not want to be an American
It was right after Nine Eleven
When terrorists attacked this country
I was so shocked, angry, and scared
Of what could happen to the Land of the Free
So I remained a neutral person
When it came down to Afghanistan and Iraq
But now I am standing here today
And I am here to say: I want my country back
I want to see the Fourth of July fireworks
If I had to I would stand up and fight
For the Stars and Stripes
Whether it would be in Afghanistan or Baghdad
I would serve my nation
I may have been scared long ago
But I’m standing here in this uniform and boots
And I want all of you to know:
I am proud to be an American
