HAIKU VERSUS RHYTHM AND RHYME

My favourite pastime:
crafting poetry in rhyme
but not so this time

Ordered by Debbie:
from your comfy box break free
haiku it will be

Debbie, what's with you
to rhythm and rhyme I'm true
I loathe haiku

I'll stay in my sphere
sans rhythm poetry's queer
Oops! I rhymed in here

I can see why you directed me to this one as it is saying the same sort of thing as I was saying in mine...I can't understand why people get so worked up about haiku, or why people think it's so marvellous...a lot of it just leaves me cold, I find it rather dull and boring...the only time I truly enjoy haiku is when metaphor and imagery is used within it - ironically, the very things that aren't supposed to be used!

Don't be blue. Stay true to you. Loved this witty write, Delysia. How did Deb feel about it? I know she has very specific ideas on how haiku should be written. Frankly, I think is a way cool commentary on poetic forms and how seriously some folks take them. Brian's blog gets into this. Love, Carolyn
