A Mothers Meditation

I taught her better.
I didn’t want this for her
She’s followed my tracks
Look at her, life is ruined
She knows not what she’s done

	The Daughters Disposition

	Wow, what did I do?
I can’t bear the pain she flaunts
	Her disappointment…
Stings… like a swift kick inside
What on earth was I thinking?

A Teen Dad’s Train of Thought

Did I? I didn’t!
It wouldn’t have felt as good…
She took the pill right?
What if, she was with other guys?
What do I tell my parents?

"Studies and surveys of young teen males show they are worried the pleasure
experienced during intercourse will diminish with the use of a condom."

Great write, Miranda. Spot on with all three viewpoints, I'd imagine

Wow, awesome look at all three perspectives, the mother's angst, the daughter's reaction to disappointing her mother and especially the teen father's reaction...she took the pill, right?...was she with other guys? His immaturity hits the target with a bullseye. This is an awesome entry for Gwendolen's contest. I'm working on mine and it's turning into a novel. Heaven help me shorten it. Lacks the punch yours has. This is a winner in my book. Love, Carolyn

Good poem! I'm sure those of us who have daughters... This is one of our first concerns. As parents, we need to be there for them...

it seems like no matter how you raise them it happens. you just have to hope that as a parent you did your best and trust your kid, if you start telling them you don't trust them, then something could happen also. this was a good write and something young people should read. thank you for your comment on Tender Love.
