Inner Explosion

The ice locks me in;
no escape.
Trapped under this crystal palace,
I spend my last moments
speculating here;
cold water
fingering and teasing my skin.
My life is frozen here
and I watch my fingers turn blue.
my lungs burn.
my heart ticks,
signaling the little time I have left
and I can already feel the fires of hell.
as my life comes to an end,
every image of happiness,
facade of peace,
hope, dream, love
i've ever had
explodes
and the pieces are scattered
among the cavity in my chest
