Nothing Changes

Nothing Changes

Kipling told of Tommy’s plight
just one of many sent to fight,
now spurned by all as lowest scum
despite the battles he had won.

Cannon fodder one and all
useful though, to save a fall
sent to fight, spurred by a lie
expendable if they should die.

Civilians now are used this way
it saves them giving soldiers pay,
for now the rich are very wise
and much more crafty with their lies.

When people for their freedom fight
they’ll give their lives for what is right,
but once again when war’s been won
will they be just like 'Tommy'.... scum?

There is no change, it stays the same
only how they play the game,
those with power control the day
and scum like us, just pave the way………

Now I'm impressed, rhyming poets are indeed rare, but to have both rhyming rhythm and an excellent theme in even rarer.

I'm not sure, but it must have been RISE AND FALL OF THE THIRD REICH, where I read about WWi German soldiers receiving veterans benifits being not enough, I thought then that the policy of crappiing on veterans is not necessarily a US Congress policy, now you tell me the Queen treats her vets just like the Congress treats our? Shameful. . Gppd work, Ivor.
