Francis

Francis never smiles.

Francis doesn't dwell
in Mother’s boreal kitchen.
Francis doesn't masturbate
his infectious innocence
into a matriarch's
dying orifice– at least,
not anymore.

No…
Francis doesn't
choke up father's liver scraps -
intestinal smeared
with sister's buttered stupidity…
the linen expired, sweetheart.
Remember when...when
we all were
comfortably twelve...?
When we were
collectively
gassed inside mother’s
dish-ragged gnarled fingers and...
Francis slingshot
all the dead doves
that lonesome morning...?

(good for you, Francis)

(good for you) -

Francis now accepts
battered cashmere kisses.
The very least he can do.
Francis reprocesses raindrops...
...tap..tap..tap...
like battery acid mementoes...
smashing vinegar and oil cruets
into a bastard beggar's mouth.
Francis bleeds and
so will everyone
else.
At least...
for the time being.

Francis doesn't exhale well at all -
when adopted Mother passes by.
Smirnoff hot and depression readied.
Poor, poor Francis...
taking a cushioned seat upon
a writhing elephant’s safety pin –
fat and round
like Mother’s navel;
orange and soft...and fat -
like the pumpkin marks
sleeping behind his vertebrae.

The hind legs of Mother's cynicism
are never captured through
similes and her watching;
a heathen chewing upon
a sweet and sour stained
bible. Like Mother?
Like Father? ...and who's liking...
Poor Francis…
friendly pterodactyls switch positions
when disorderlies rush in –
baskets filled with crucifixes,
strawberries, pears
and oranges.

Gifts for you to touch and remember.
Remember?
Dismembered? Francis...
Ssshhh...

Some things you eat
some you don’t.
At least –
that’s what Francis does…
did -

done...don't you?
...tap...tap...tap...

Wow, my mind is reeling. This is, at least, very dark, very heavy, almost tortured. I sense a bit of a self portrayal in this, but I may be wrong...or it may all be metaphoric, but either way, despite the disturbing depth, this piece is still rarely and exquisitely executed as only you can do. I hope you are okay? Wherever you are , you are loved. Remember that. Best wishes, Sara
