The Elephant Fort

Black beauties in chains-
Before the ticket counters,
A long queue does creep
To scatter near the black wonders.

Ears and tails always move,
Ruminating the rhythms of forest.
Elephants are inside the fort,
Exposed to the sky barest.

I hear the hushed emotions
In the clinking of chains.
Hearts  smoulder in;
Eyes emit lava of pains.

Burning red wild flowers
And tickling streams,
Each elephant longs I know:
But chains kill dreams.

    Your poem made me feel so sad Fabiyas. Animals deserve to roam in the wild. You described the elephants' plight so well. Best to you, Diane

    Fabiyas, I hate to think of elephants (or any other animals) in chains. No wonder their "eyes emit lava of pains." A sad but beautifully written poem! Love, Carolyn

    So terribly sad for these elephants, Fabiyas. Chained and imprisoned, as though they'd commited some dreadful crime.:( Elephants are so kind and family oriented...how they must pine for each other. You've painted a dismal scene, with you own kindness and concern. Blessings to you, Fabiyas. Mikki
