in the practice of love

.
My passions burned so very bright
as I practiced love away from light
tasting sweet  charms of many girls
in endless  joy, and denials fright.

as I practiced love away from light
I hardly cared in reckless youth
but now I know you were my truth

My passion burned on words not spoken
lost in  your pretty heart so broken
my shallow gestures but a token

I knew your name but not your passion
now I look for you in desperate fashion
as i practice love away from your light.

Sadly, away from her light. I really like how you told this sad little tale and especially that last stanza. Expressing how you missed out on her passion!

As we so often hear, Stephen, "Go toward the light." That's where you'll find the women who will not break your heart, ladies who would appreciate a wonderful man like you. Those who hang out in the darkness are not usually the ones who really want a kind and loving man in their lives. But, hey, I'm no expert on relationships. I just want to meet someone whose heart burns with the light of truth. And we never find the right person when we're looking desperately. Great poem! Love, Carolyn
