From the crystalline pools of the privately schooled, the hedged and the vetted
To the infested waters of public space squatter, the dire and indebted.
From the percent-zero-ones, with their palatial lives, their golden ties.
To the billions who try, on nickels on dimes, on trickle-down crimes, to get by.
From the gated, the 24K plated communities of wealth, and their weapons of stealth
To the fenced and dispensed, the drained and disdained, the weakened of health.
From the diamond clustered rings and pearly things that dangle and shine
To the cluster bombed and napalmed beings all mangled and mined.
From the IMF powers in their corporate towers, running repayment schemes
To the free-market hoax of the famished folks fed neo-liberal dreams.
From the high-tech lives, the flower-bedded drives of the capitalized
To the depression blues of the labourers who lose, off-shored and down-sized.
From the cruising ships, where they repose and sip sweet cocktails and wine
To the refugee boats, barely afloat, packed with those sweat like swine.
From prime-cut choices, their listened-to-voices spouting theories of need
To the dictated lot, fearing strongmen dollar bought, battered they bleed.
From derivative betting, a world of forgetting, where suffering grows
Into an awakening light of another one's plight, where the better self knows.
