It was a murder
of innocents

without sense
for it was  nothing more
than greed
and nothing less
than a crime

for even if
you believe
that dogs have
no soul

what was your goal?

what did you hope to achieve?
other than damnation

and to claim you
were just following orders
doesn't excuse an atrocity.

when you cry of the toll
it destroyed your soul

no one put a gun to your head
for you had a choice
but dogs have no voice

where is the truth?
in other than a bullet's velocity

regardless of the story you tell

I hope you burn in hell!
The outdoor adventure company in Whistler BC hiding behind a subsidiary company, had 100 sled dogs killed in a
horrific way, and then dumped into a mass grave. These were beautiful trained dogs that could have easily been sold
or adopted out, but it made supposedly better business sense to kill them. This came to light because the guy who
did it cameos workman's compensation for post traumatic stress disorder. Yeah right!

Thanks for your comment, Stephen. Sometimes I read poems and end up wondering what they mean. That's never the case with yours either. Clarity is always appreciated by readers. Love, Carolyn

How horrendous an act Stephen to destroy beautiful animals like this .. your poem expresses your anger and disgust with this idiotic act of violence against harmless creations of God... man's best friend .. much like the dog fighting rings that still exist far and wide ... so sad to inflict such pain on these beautiful souls.. touching my friend... luv..

I don't understand why in the world they would do this. Greed seems not the word for it. but rather laziness and hatefulness. TOo lazy to sell the dogs and so hateful to be able to even think of the idea. And all over the world, people are being treated horrendously by big corporations (for sure mostly for greed. Good poem. LUv, Andrea

Nooooooooo!! Corporate greed knows no bounds! And as the economy plummets, it'll only get worse. Why are we surprised anyway?? They fund abortion clinics and sacrifice the kids on the altar of monetary gain so with that said, there's no limit to what they will do! Beyond wickedness! So damn unfair!!

Horrific, Stephen. These dogs had served a purpose and once they were deemed useless, their lives were simply sacrificed without compassion. (Sometimes this happens to people too.) There have been stories like this about the greyhounds who are used at the racetracks. Homes could have been found for all of these animals. It makes me very angry. God will show little mercy on these perpetrators. Awesome poem, my friend. Love, Carolyn
