Balzruf des Auerhahns, Mating Call of the Capercailzie, Celo del urogallo

Dumpfer Trommelschlag
Der Balzruf des Auerhahns
Vom dichten Wald her

The muffled drumbeat
Mating call of the capercailzie
Across the thick woods

Golpe del tambor sordo
El celo del urogallo
Través del bosque denso

A new animal learned today-- thanks for this one Gert-- you sure know a lot of different kinds of animals-- so amazing! Enjoyed reading this and trying to imagine their mating call like drumbeats :) very interesting :)

Gert, I've searched Google to find a picture of this unique game bird but couldn't find one.. I will look in photobucket. Interesting Haiku. Always, Annalise P.S. Hope your weekend was good!

thanks for explaining this bird to me. I don't really have time for the poems at facebook so I ignore a lot that is going on there. But I always make time for Soup. LUv, Andrea

What is "capercailzie?" You need a footnote for both me and for Dr. Ram. haha. Yes, I too dream that way sometimes, Gert, waking up and trying to get back the dream and sometimes it works!

I am quite intrigued as to the drumbeat. I think it's about an animal or what....

Interesting work..Since you are saying drumbeat, it must be a tribe of some kind somewhere or maybe a metaphor....Enjoyed reading your work..The trailing Haiku that I wrote was for a contest. He said non-tradition Haiku so from his examples it has no specific count..Thanks for letting me know though..Always need help in getting one correct..Sara

You painted a compelling image, Gert. Is the capercailzie a tribe? Very thought-provoking write, my friend. Love, Carolyn
