the joy of nihilism

to be truly free
requires a studied absence of care

living to truly see
a world through open eyes aware

unencumbered by belief
or sentimental grief

~Raskolnikov

I don't know if I could ever look at the world with an "absence of care." I don't know how people do it. It's certainly not for me as I carry too much sentimentality with me. Still, I do try to keep my eyes open and aware. Raskolnikov is a very intriguing character, isn't he, Stephen? This is quite a thought-provoking poem. (I used to do PR for the FL Assoc. of Insurance agents and we looked upon GEICO as a reptile.) Love, Carolyn

I do not know much about the study of nihilism but I sure love this poem!
