Shadows
Deep and dark, ready to consume,
Shadows fall down across the room,
And stretch out across the floor.
Engulfing the light, hungry for more.
Darkness reaches his hand out to cover her light.
From with in his depths, he unveils to her the night.
Be still and quite, my fears.
For the hour of total darkness nears.
They are only visions in the night, fantasy.
For surely they cannot hurt me.
There is nothing there in the night,
That is not there in the day light.
Still no comfort, for sleep will not come.
Frigid fingers creep upon me, making the body numb.
For surely it is only my imagination,
Fear materializing this intimidation.
Certainly it was only the wind at my window,
But in the darkness, void of light, it’s hard to know.
