Winters' Rose

One single bush, one solitary rose
  vivid deep in crimsoned color
deeply intoxicating of its' scent.
Winters grasp has little effect
  on this one single rose
for it seems not to want to let go
  and surrender itself'
to the bitter stinging cold.
A few petals hold a touch of snow
  just enough to give moisture
yet not freeze the roses' delicate bloom.
the fragrance, heightened by the cold
lingers within the rose, buried by its petals
perhaps protected, because of this cold.
This single rose, none-the-less holding strong
seems to me a little sad being all alone.
