Birth

Birth

Out of blackest night
I was called to life.
Thunder and lightning wrestled
in the heavens
and in the heat of their passion
I was born.
Within this frigid darkness
I am not alone,
for we are legion.

In a maelstrom of violent winds
we are carried higher, ever higher
until our numbers are too great
for the winds to hold aloft.
Silently, we begin to fall.

Far below a child watches and wonders
as we blanket his world.
