Just Like You

I can't pop my gum when I speak
I was born without that gene
I don't show the fullness of my hips through the tight fit of my jeans
 I like breathing
I don't accentuate my words with a finger cutting through the air
 My meaning still comes through
I may not act like you, walk like you or talk like you
I am still a Black Woman
We share the same passion and pain
Our mothers and grandmothers gave us our sass
Our fathers and grandfathers gave us our strength
I may not be just like you but I am you
 A Black Woman

this was a great piece but it realy put black women down. just like you they ar'nt all like that, with bad habits. thats the neighbor hood your from. and the charitaristic's that mothers give us our sass, and fathers give us our strength. is a foundation if inequality. in other words i like the way the poem is, but i just don't like the poem, john h loving iii

The power of your womenhood permeates through your writing. Nicely done.
