Golden ring

I sense our heart’s waning passion
Though we sealed it in a ring
The love we both share
In its gold we engraved
“Always and Forever”
Whose luster still remains

But look on our feeling
It’s no longer reigning
Only a cold dull specter
Of once heated past
We’re defeated by a ring
Whose luster still remains

Hey! The honeymoon is over. Happens to all of us. Let's hope this poet (is it you?) has a friend in the one wearing his ring. "Luster still remains." Good write. LOve, Dave

So well written, Juan! Paolo is a nice Italian name, had a friend once from northern Italy whose name was Paolo (and a girlfriend, her name was Guiliana!!!). Wonder if you speak Spanish - what I assume, and Italian as well!!). Thank you for your comment and have a great Sunday!...Gert

How sad it is when the ring's luster outlives the passion in a relationship, Juan. Very good use of irony to convey your message in this intelligent, creative poem. Love, Carolyn

Look for one thing that drew you to that person and focus on that then build on that for a happy relationship...Couple came to my husband to be wed the other day and they had tattooed each other's initial on their ring finger so that their relationship would not end..Sad..Sara

Sounds like a marriage which lost its sparkle. .In the beginning lust and love reigns,by time only love remains, sometimes love dies too,and all one hold to is a memory or two, touching poem Juan!Celene!
