has always invoked
all the possibilities that
I remember from childhood.
A thousand Saturday mornings,
up early, in the quiet,
in the early sunlight,
the cool air,
the first chirps of birds,
I could do anything,
I could do nothing,
go back and play
at the school I had left
with such relief the day before.
It was the day you drove off on vacation.
It was the day you drove off to college
and later, drove your daughters
off to college.
It is garage sale day to look for
Saturday morning, fat with potential!
The day for all those new thoughts
and projects you've been putting off.
Any mistakes you make on Saturday
can still be covered by Sunday.
Here's to Saturday morning.
The best damn day of the week!
