No Rhyme, No Reason

Where is the rhyme; where is the reason
Discrimination takes many forms
Cultural differences enrich us
Why should others conform to our norms

Religion’s often the cause of wars
Each should be free to worship their way
Where is the rhyme; where is the reason
Judge others not by the way they pray

Red, yellow, black, brown colors of skin
All of us have hearts, feelings and souls
Where is the rhyme; where is the reason
When racial barriers hinder goals

Politicians cast public needs aside
Point fingers with charges of treason
Independent thinking is needed
Where is the rhyme; where is the reason

My heart-felt congratulations, carolyn for your win in Joe's contest, " One good Quatern Deserves Another ". I have enjoyed reading your Quatern...your fairness and kindness are felt in your words as you take your stand on equality without the prejudice that others can't get rid of. Have a Happy Fourth with your loved ones, and thanks for your kind, encouraging comments! Love and hugs, Andrew.

this is truly a great write, Carolyn. i wish all would think the way you do, to allow us to be a free soul, believing God the way we believe deep in our own souls, without committing yourself to a religion, that you may not be so sure about, but one person may do it just not cause anything bad, or to be judged by some who don't feel the same way as they would.at least poetry is always free, and mostly without war..or corrupt.(: ~Always&Forever Lynette

your intense thoughts are an uncomfortable subject to many; but sorely needed. the more we talk and read thoughts like these the greater hope we have of a world of "oneness." peace to you and yours, thank you, chuck

Wisdom flows from this poem, Carolyn. Are we now being tested here in the U.S. to see just how much religious freedom OR LACK OF religion there remains in the U.S.? Religious freedom includes all religions. Remember, God will bring the world to one Church...Christ's Church...before the end. How He does it, we may not understand. This nation was founded on Christian beliefs. But, I look around and wonder how many citizens practice or even believe anymore. Actions speak louder than words-
