Freedom to Grow Medical Marijuana

Far as the Politics and this is my voice
Medical Marijuana is the right choice

Even though that road is no longer for me
It serves a purpose and that’s clear to see

Convicts are growers as it thins out the pen
Offering the players a game they can win

It’s true; home invasions may be on the rise
As smoke from the pot fills up our skies

Children of growers will grow up and use
Trying hard to fill up their parent’s shoes

We work, pay taxes, they rake in the cash
Everybody’s looking for some kind of stash

My stash is my daughter she is also my pride
From her there are no actions I would ever hide

There are two little feet that are following me
Eyes as beautiful and innocent as two eyes can be

Those eyes look at me like I’m Robert De Niro
I’m not just her daddy I’m that little girls hero

Because, I made the changes a man makes in life
I made them for my children and also my wife

I’m at the top of my class and like it or not
I wouldn’t be here, sitting around smoking pot

The Lord is my Shepherd my wife is my friend
Each lets me know there are rules I can’t bend

I talked it over with the Lord and my wife
Everything bad comes with that way life

We no longer choose to wear addicts shoes
But you be our guest go right ahead and use

I bear no animosity I will hold no grudge
I may be a Christian but I am no Judge

Aside from all the Politics this is my voice
I know growing pot is not the right choice

Medical Marijuana is an issue that I have
friends on each side of the table. I think
each side has many valid points. i think
it's an issue that will never be resolved
because the two sides see things very
differently. I have far to much to live
for to sit around high. But then again,
who am I to judge.

You have done your job as a poet, to express your thought and feelings with out passing judgement. I will never agree with you, but you are a fine writer. In every sense of the word. And it would be easy to be pursued to your view, the way that you write it.

I agree with you but then again that's my opinion. Using pot as a medicinal drug could open the door to legalize it. With the rate of cigarette addiction in American, do we really need this? Good poem.....Blessings, Karla

Tests have shown THC can help people like me and James Fraser who have ulcerative colitis, so I wish the chemical could be placed in pill form and made available to all who have this condition which has no other successful treatment and certainly no cure. I do, however, understand that it can be harmful in the hands of young people. Dad had glaucoma and friends were treated with chemo. I wish they could have received some relief from the THC. It's not approved for medical use here. Love, CD

(Cont'd) I am presently living in Canada, and the rules are obviously more relaxed....so people who are pretty harmless about it, don't end up going to prison for smoking some doobies before watching a movie etc....and the 70 year-old hippies who grow some weak outdoor swag amongst their tomatoes, barely getting a buzz, but enjoy how their bones don't feel as sore....well you could throw them in prison or burn their plants so that they start taking poisonous pills instead? So many angles for me.

You are right when you say that there are many people on both sides of the issue. I commend you for your honesty with this piece. If it's not for our children, then there must be control with wisdom...I don't see much of that in the political arena. Keep the honesty in your writing, as it does your work credit! Dan C

Nice thoughts on medical marijuana. It's a never ending issue. But I like your view point

*Yikes* This is one of those seemingly endless debates. I haven't smoked weed in years and years( oooops did I say that out loud?). I wouldn't be where I am in my life right now if I was high all the time either. I proved a lot of people wrong with my scholastic achievements since. There are so many different levels and circumstances surrounding pot, including medical marijuana. Some of the people who use medical, really benefit from it....but the whole thug life element really sucks.
