The Hard Explanation of Pain

For these few years past
How I have sought to explain,
Though I keep a positive face
A useful even helpful life, a quiet voice,
The deep bleeding cost
The shadow that hovers near
Even the sun's best days
The soul's cells, how they
Learn to cower and shrink
For fear they will waken again
A dragon that barely sleeps
When wakens it roars
And spreads its harsh breath
Into the body both electrical
And bone hammering aches
The hope destroyer
The fear feeder
This deep unending pain
And that indeed, one does
Slowly change.

oh my gosh, you TOO wrote of a dragon inside your soul. You have to see what I said about it (because I used it a bit differently) Mine is called The Dark Poet (adjusted title for the contest it was in, originally it was called Dragon Child) It is so cool to find someone who thinks in the same way here from time to time! I really enjoyed your take on the dragon!Mine is expression of desire to "ROAR" Luv andrea PS. Can u tell me so I can be sure, was your dragon perhaps someone outside yourself?

Having to cope with such pain can really be difficult, Linda. The dragon's eyes are always upon us and we sometimes feel like we don't even recognize ourselves. This is very deep. Nicely done. Best wishes, Carolyn
