Fleeting Days

She drifts in the Sea of Apathy,
floats in the vast Ocean Of Ennui,
for life she's lost the capacity,
only in sleep she finds herself free.

Reality she has rejected,
fleeting days are too swift to embrace,
in sleep she feels safe and protected,
life's troubling and too hard to face.

Disengaged, distant and absent,
precious moments are passing her by,
her soul is a chamber of torment,
even she cannot understand why.

descriptive and sad were my first feelings. what is comforting sometimes when one is feeling so low, upward is the only place to go -if we allow ourselves that growth opportunity. thank you for sharing your thoughts, chuck

Wow, this is heavily weighted. ( with the impression of throes of depression?) You are an amazing poet, dear Danielle!! A classic feel of sad reality for so many ...so well described in this poem. ~ Love, Carrie
