Depression

Tortured souls alone in their travelling
The arteries of city hell
Trapped within self pity's torment
The lament of Lucifer’s spell
Where all screaming companions
Create a vortex of pain
A world with out sunshine
A world with out rain

Where nothing is all that you really have
And a little of this may be too much
Where you may reach into the darkness
But you never feel, you never touch
A place without horizons
No beginning nor is there an end
Where the constant crying of others
With your own pain does blend

This black hole, a vacuum
Where in suffering reality is lost
No warmth of a summers eve
Nor extremes of winters frost
A place but one step behind you
Look to my eyes and you will find
A place so steeped in depression
This place I call... my mind

Life really is a state of mind. Change your thoughts change your world as Gandhi says. Thanks for reminding me of that. Have a great day! -Susan Mills
