Agony!

With sharpened axe you splice and splice again
Repeatedly you strike
Should I forget your name
You take a rest and burn and ache and swell
Until old familiar returns to bring me Hell
You rage in Devils angry fire
Keep me awake
I can not sleep through depth of mire
You drill with pressure,
push, pummel and pull
You drag, drain and dull -
to peace - short while
Praise be! Amen!...
but not for long...
with wrong move
or slight of weather
start over again...

It almost sounds also like a bad trip to the dentist. haha. Yes, it is a great way of portraying agony here, and reminds me of old torture machines! How are you today, Anna-Marie? Luv, andrea

I hate to think of you sleepless, troubled with an "angry fire." But you are right about the need to "start over again" when you're feeling this way. A very compelling poem, Anna-Marie! Excellent! Love, Carolyn
